A very good friend of mine asked me recently if I would be up for decorating her kids room. The whole family just adores the movie UP and wanted some themes from it painted on the walls to make the room look more colourful. I jumped right in, as I'm always up for a new challenge, and painting pictures on walls on a large scale (at least ten times larger than I would normally do!) was quite exciting!
Here are the results:
I used ordinary acrylic paints for wall decorating and, although, I had a limited pallet of colours I managed to achieve some good shading and highlights! I would normally go into more details when drawing or painting but because of the nature of this commission, it was not necessary. The most important thing: both the kids and the parents absolutely loved the finished result!
For the girl, colour pink and lots of balloons..
And, obviously, a small green truck for the boy.
Kevin in all it's glory! I was really focusing on the proportions here with this big cheery bird, simply because it was my first time to paint on such a large scale, on a wobbly chair, with two small children running about in a playful frenzy..
Couple of close ups:
All in all, an amazing project!
